Festive Vibes in South London

Winter (in Peckham) is coming. Before you start shivering, here some of the treats that lie ahead to warm up those darker days. We’re talking movies, mulled wine, gong baths and festive markets. And, of course, there’s always yoga. (Just call us Santa.)
What 2-for-1 tipples at Bussey Rooftop Bar
When 1-23 December (open Mon-Fri 5-11pm / Sat 12-11pm / selected Sundays)
Fill your evenings with fairy lights, deliciously warm cocktails (think hot negronis and spiced cider) and unbeatable views of the London city skyline at Bussey Rooftop Bar (pictured above). Whether you’re looking for somewhere to host your Peckham Christmas party, or fancy a post-yoga bev with your pals, unwind with 2-for-1 cocktails, 5-7pm weeknights.
What Gong Bath with Leo Cosendai
When 9 December
End the year on a healing note (literally) by joining this gong bath session with gong-master Leo. Gong meditation, a type of sound therapy, has been around for thousands of years as a way of healing. Producing a sound wave, the vibration of the gong creates the perfect space to relax, let go and detach from ‘chitter-chatter’ of the mind. Gong meditation benefits include improved sleep, breaking up of emotional blockages, stress reduction and more. The session will run in Yogarise Peckham Studio 2 from 7pm–8.30pm and costs £20; book your spot.
What Winter Film Club at Bussey Building
When 1-23 December
Promising to please ‘even the Grinchiest of Scrooges’, Winter Film Club will be taking over our very own beloved Bussey Building from 1 until 23 December. There’s an impressively diverse selection of classic flicks to choose from, including box-office smashes such as Ghostbusters, Dirty Dancing, True Romance, Casablanca, Elf, Home Alone and much, much more. As usual, drinks and snacks can be purchased from the bar; Rooftop Film Club members can enjoy jammy discounts on tickets.
What Christmas Food Drive for Southwark Foodbank
When 8-20 December
This December Yogarise is once again supporting Southwark Foodbank, based at Pecan in Peckham, just a stone’s throw from the studio. Foodbanks help local people in crisis, providing three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support. Keep your eyes peeled for collection points at Yogarise Peckham, and for the lists of urgently needed items. In addition, our Community yoga classes continue to support 999Club for December – a housing charity based in Deptford – helping to empower people in South London to transform their lives. Our last community class is on Sunday 16 December 1.30-2.30pm.
What Pexmas
When 8–9 December
Head to Warwick Gardens for a mistletoe-worthy weekend filled with shopping, eating, drinking, socialising and more. Now in its eighth edition, Pexmas will host more than 140 independent local makers, doers, foodies and traders, repping the best of sahf London’s creative talent. Get there between 11am and 6pm to enjoy festive hits, local craft beer, delicious snacks and nibbles – plus Pexmas’ crowd-pleasing mulled wine. There will also be crafty workshops so you can leave with some new skills. Rumour has it that Santa himself will be dropping by; parents with kids in tow could swing by the Grotto to double-check.
Whether you’re looking for Christmas yoga classes, a yoga workshop, or some gift inspiration (we do vouchers!), take a look at our full schedule for yoga in Peckham this holiday season. Festive yogis, take note: we have a reduced schedule from 20 December–2 January (and we’re closed for the holidays 24 – 27 December). Don’t worry – we will still be running some of your favourite classes, plus a few special extras to help you welcome in 2019 feeling fiiiine.
