Acupuncture + Craniosacral Therapy

Acupuncture is a key component of Chinese medicine and has been practised in China for more than 3000 years. Now popular worldwide, it is a system of healing which is most commonly used to treat pain, but also fertility issues, stress, anxiety, insomnia, migraines and more. It involves the insertiohn of very thin needles through the skin at strategic points, a method based on principles which aim to achieve balance and harmony within the body.

Craniosacral Therapy works with the whole person: their mind, body and spirit. CST involves using a light touch. Through their hands, the Craniosacral Therapist will listen into your system, tuning into the rhythmic, tidal motions of your body and the ‘Breath of Life’. Craniosacral Therapy focuses on the health rather than the pathology, the illness, or dis-ease.

Simon has been a physical therapist for over 20 years. His interest in pain relief began after a serious back injury at the age of 17 whilst playing squash. Over time and with hard work he managed to heal his injury. He holds certifications in Acupuncture, Craniosacral therapy and Iyengar yoga. With certifications in craniosacral therapy, acupuncture, classical music and Iyengar yoga, Simon creates a uniquely blended, client focussed approach for his clients. Areas of speciality include: residue pain from trauma and whiplash, chronic pain, sleep issues, headaches and migraines, stress. Craniosacral work is also well recognised for its benefits with newborns babies with colic and residue birth trauma. Acupuncture is known for its success with IVF and fertility issues. These are also areas of interest for Simon.

Acupuncture can help with a variety of issues including: pain, anxiety and depression, insomnia, headaches and migraines, stress, digestive issues and connective tissue problems.

Community Acupuncture is a multi-bed based approach which is affordable and accessible to all and is used in the NHS. Fees are £30 – 45. You pay what you can afford. Find out more here.

Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for the whole person. When the body is properly balanced and efficient – like a well-tuned engine – you feel happier and healthier. Osteopathy is safe and gentle, a treatment philosophy as well as a natural medicine. We currently have two experienced running clinics at Yogarise Queeen’s Park. Read more and book below.

Ida is an internationally recognised expert in the field of Osteopathy and also as a Clinic Tutor at the University College of Osteopathy (formally The British School of Osteopathy). Ida is an Osteopathic Consultant and Healer and brings a wealth of more than 25 years’ experience to Yogaloft.

Her personal brand of healing has helped many people reclaim their vitality and recover their zest for life. Focused on sustained wellbeing – instead of quick fixes – Ida offers patients a customised treatment of carefully selected Osteopathic techniques to improve function and remove obstacles to healing. These may include: cranial, visceral, and structural techniques such as soft tissue, myofascial release, cranial osteopathy, muscle energy technique, counter strain, manipulation technique and lymphatic technique.

Using the principles of Osteopathy a very wide variety of conditions can be helped including: Aches and Pains; Back Pain/backache; Strains & Sprains; Muscle Tension/spasms/cramps; Sports Injuries; Rheumatic and Arthritic Pain; Circulatory Problems, Digestion Problems; Neuralgia/Sciatica; Stress/Anxiety/Tension; TMJ (jaw) disorders; Reintegration after accidents, falls or injury.

Each treatment is individually tailored, after explanation of the diagnosis and discussion about the treatment and the patients needs. Selected combination of one, two or more of these techniques usually proves highly effective. The patient may require one or two treatments or a longer course of treatments.

Treatment can also help a wide variety of general health problems such as: Asthma, Menstrual Problems (e.g. period pain), Headaches and Migraines, Frozen Shoulder, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Carpel Tunnel, Tennis/Golf elbow, Painful joints, Scoliosis, Whiplash, Numbness/Pins & Needles of the extremities, and age related movement limitations. Together with lifestyle advice, exercise, relaxation and breathing techniques and ergonomic advice may be suggested to prevent further problems and involve the patient in their own healing process.

Ida is a firm believer that the body has the ability to heal itself at any time in life regardless of symptoms and journeys.

Ida is fully insured and has been accredited by the British school of Osteopathy, the oldest and largest school of Osteopathy in the UK.

Physiotherapy is a science-based profession taking a ‘whole person’ approach to health and wellbeing, and includes the patient’s lifestyle. At its core is patient involvement in their own care, through education, awareness, empowerment and participation in their treatment.

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy is a specialised area of physiotherapy treating injuries and conditions which affect the muscles, joints, and soft tissues. Treatment involves an assessment, diagnosis, and then an agreed treatment plan with goal-setting, in order to achieve optimal outcomes. All dependent on patient needs, input can vary from assessment and advice alone to longer-term rehabilitation.

Mark qualified as a Physiotherapist from the University of Brighton in 1999. Having worked in NHS, military and private posts he has assessed and treated a wide spectrum of conditions, from the more straightforward everyday ailments in which we suffer to the more complex. Mark uses a patient focused approach to understand each individuals’ condition and needs and uses appropriate manual and exercise therapy to enable patients to achieve their goals, whatever they may be.

A former rugby player, and current-day runner and activity lover, Mark is fully aware of how injury affects us physically, and psychologically, and the importance of regaining and maintaining health.
