Balance and Renew: A New Year Yoga and Sound Workshop with Junior Valentine and Lydia Baker
Take time for yourself with this new year yoga and sound workshop: slow down, unwind and relax. Move old energies out and make space for something new… Sounds pretty good, huh?
What to expect…
Unwind with an afternoon of effortlessness. Think, a mixture of fluid flow – easy movement – seated and standing postures, restorative yoga weaved with Yoga Nidra and the sound of crystal bowls and the blissful gong.
Why sound?
The gong and other instruments are played in a therapeutic way to create a variety of sounds and vibrations. No effort is required, just lie back, get comfy and allow the sound waves to wash over you. This immersive experience creates a meditative and healing atmosphere to balance the body, mind and spirit.
Both Lydia and Junior will be there to guide you into the new year, with optional hands-on assists and light massage.
The combination of the breath-paced vinyasa sequence flowing into supported poses, using bricks, bolsters, belts, and blankets, is designed to calm the mind and relax the body, leaving you feeling blissed-out and restored.
Lydia Baker is Australian-born, passionate and curious by nature. She got into yoga unintentionally and quickly fell in love!
Since completing her initial teacher training Lydia has continued her studies with a special interest in meditation and Yoga Nidra, and has completed additional trainings with Erin Prichard, Becky Farbstein, Chloe Faulkner, Katy Bateman, Norman Blair, Ben Wolfe and Uma Dinsmore.
Taking inspiration from different forms of asana and various philosophies, including Taoist, Buddhist and Vedic texts, you can expect to flow through a strong steady sequence, with emphasis on the breath and stillness.
Junior Valentine is a proud South London native born and bred, with a background in performing.
Junior’s classes are fun and energetic with a dash of sass, combining creative sequencing and a spirit of playfulness with a dose of inspiration to help deepen your practice with a hint of spirituality. He doesn’t take yoga too seriously – he believes you take what you want and need from the practice.
Junior teaches Ashtanga, Mandala & Shamanism Vinyasa, Rocket and Forrest yoga. He works deeply with energy as a Reiki master and Qigong and his thirst for knowledge is forever expanding.
Lydia and Junior can’t wait to welcome you (and the new year) in together.
