Kate Lovell

Hot Vinyasa Flow

Kate began her journey as a yoga teacher in 2010 after completing her initial 500-hour training in London with AOCY Ltd. and has taught at Yogarise Covent Garden since it opened in 2011 (as Yotopia).  She specialises in teaching gentle vinyasa flow classes, beginners yoga courses and women’s yoga workshops, which she offers regularly.  She has also completed intensive studies of meditation, pregnancy and Womb yoga, sound healing and, most recently in February 2019 travelled for her first time to India to study the Synergy yoga method with Simon Borg Olivier.
Originally from Boston, Kate moved to Europe two years after University to fulfil a goal of speaking French and Italian fluently.  After a year in France and Italy, she moved to London to study media at the LSE in 2005.  During this time she was using the power yoga practice she started a few years prior in the States as a means of managing stress and maintaining fitness.  She soon discovered through a painful back injury that yoga can harm just as much as heal if not practiced mindfully and this led her to seek out a way of understanding the practice that highlighted its beauty beyond exercise.  Little did she know this was the first step on her path to teaching gentle forms of yoga aimed at physical, mental and emotional transformation in a safe and welcoming way to all levels of ability.
Having worked a desk job in London for a decade alongside teaching, Kate understands the challenges of the office environment and the panacea that yoga can provide to the stress of modern, urban living.  That being said, her students come from a variety of backgrounds from musicians to actors to artists and designers – anyone who has found the patterns of work life and the demands of technology wearing on her/his body and mind seems to find the antidote in Kate’s classes.  She is passionate to show people that yoga is not about forcing yourself into difficult postures or over-stretching, but rather increasing your ability to move and breathe in way that unlocks your inner dancer, helps you to embrace stillness and builds your resilience off the mat.  Her teaching style is playful, feminine and nurturing and her classes aim to replenish, not deplete you.
Kate is also a certified holistic health coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and enjoys assisting people on their journeys to lead healthier and happier lives.  You can find more information about her work and background at www.thekateway.com.
