Saori Funawatari

Mandala Vinyasa

I was introduced to Yoga when I first moved to London in 2002 and have become a keen practitioner ever since. I have undertaken the first 200 hrs teacher training with Rebecca Ffrench from “Yoga London” and 500 hrs advance trainings with Dulce Aguilar and Jamie Clark from “Yoga People” in Rocket Yoga, Mandala Vinyasa Yoga, and continuing my further training with various world’s greatest teachers: Maty Ezraty, Edward Clarks (Tripsichore), Uma Dinsmore-Tuli (Pregnancy Yoga), Murielle Burellier & Sebastian Puchelle & Bernie Clark (Yin Yoga), Anna Ashby (Restorative Yoga), David Swenson (Ashtanga).

I have developed a deep understanding of Yoga history, philosophy, theory, chakra, CTM, relation to the body + mind and wellbeing. I was also drawn into anatomy when I was recovering from a minor sport injury and also became a certified Ayurveda Yoga Massage therapist.

I aim to teach, through Yoga, an appreciation of our present state of being, a mindfulness to help counteract the stresses of daily life. My approach is rooted in the balance of Yin and Yan. I share and teach the benefit of each Asana, different style of Yoga relation to the function of body + mind.  My Yin and Restorative classes are inward; encourage bringing inner awareness and acceptance while my Yang practice is strong, dynamic and challenging. Both are guided with breathing technique (Pranayama) through physical (Asana) practice and well deserve relaxation through Savasana at the end of the class. Though the classes are demanding and challenging, I use a non-competitive approach for every participant to allow them to challenge their own physical and emotional boundaries.

I share my knowledge with all students to remove any attachments (thoughts and fears that may bring negative energy) and instead brings positive vision, kindness and love into their lives by understanding and accepting the true self, inviting purity into the body and mind.
