PREGNANCY YOGA TEACHER TRAINING

WITH TARA LEE AND CLARE DANIELL

23-25 FEBRUARY 2024, YOGARISE PECKHAM, LONDON

Teacher Training

Yogarise is delighted to welcome back to Peckham Tara Lee and Clare Daniell for their hugely popular Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training. Last year’s training sold out so if you’re keen to join we recommend signing up as soon as possible.

Tara Lee has been teaching Pregnancy yoga for over a decade and has many articles, DVD’s and videos to her name. She is both a qualified shiatsu practitioner and a doula, having trained with childbirth guru Michel Odent.

Since training in massage therapy and cadaver studies, Clare Daniell has guided the teacher training modules on anatomy, neurophysiology, and pregnancy for the London ISHTA training group since 2014.

This 3-day and 1-evening training course is aimed at yoga teachers and birth educators who would like to learn about all aspects of pregnancy yoga. This course will give you tools and information so you can start teaching your own dedicated pregnancy yoga classes and find ways to best support women through their pregnancy and prepare them for birth.

Teacher Training

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

This in-depth training is for anyone who currently works with pregnant women but feels they need to know more, as well as people who would like to start working with this special group, either in group class settings or 121.

The training is open to qualified yoga teachers looking to expand their studio/community offering as well as trainee teachers who have completed at least 50% of their 200-hour foundational training.

It is also open to professionals who work with the pregnancy population, however, this will not certify you to teach yoga if you are not qualified as a yoga teacher. Bodyworkers, pilates teachers, fitness instructors, and any pregnancy educators are welcome to join us to understand and experience yoga in pregnancy.

COURSE STRUCTURE

This is an in-person training with an online option.

When you sign up for the course you will be sent the online module for self-study prior to the first training evening.
Friday evening’s welcome session is online only. The session will be a chance to discuss the structure of the course and the nature of the required assignments, to have your questions answered, and to cover the introduction to Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training. This will be online for everyone.

The following week, Friday-Sunday, we will all be in the studio although there is the option to do Friday and Saturday online. We ask that everybody attend IRL on the final day for the purposes of certification (unless there are special circumstances).

The Online module, ‘an introduction to teaching pregnancy yoga’ needs to be completed before commencing the training in your own time. This covers the basics of teaching pregnancy yoga including the benefits, the dos and don’ts, and modifying poses.

The Online evening session will review of the online module, followed by a brief practice, and discussion of fertility, conception, and the physiology of pregnancy.

A TYPICAL DAY

Each day will begin with a brief overview of the theme for that day and any questions students have from the previous day. We will then all participate in a themed pregnancy yoga class depending on the theme for that day.

There will be deep dives into anatomy, physiology, sequencing, and yoga philosophy as we cover each daily topic.

In the afternoons, each student will get a chance to practice teaching in a group and create class plans.

Day 1 will focus on the first trimester. We will open with a general yoga class, common symptoms of pregnancy, and discussions on awareness of what you bring to the class as the teacher.

Day 2 will focus on the second trimester, a yoga class using props, talk on sequencing classes, and an understanding of the pelvic floor and pelvic girdle pain.

Day 3 the focus will be on the third trimester, partner work yoga class, pranayama, anatomy of birth, birth preparation techniques, and group teaching assessment.

WHAT WILL I LEARN

By the end of the course, you will be able to …

Confidently teach pregnant women how to move, breathe and rest throughout their pregnancy and in preparation for birth.

Understand how to modify yoga for women with Pelvic girdle pain and other pregnancy-related issues.

Have lots of new ideas for postures: sequenced to include not only in a pregnancy yoga class but also in other group classes (eg. for beginners, people with injuries, older people, gentle yoga classes).

The feedback from this course in the past has been overwhelmingly positive and students have been grateful for the time spent focusing on this incredible time in a woman’s life. This course is great for any teachers whether or not they have experienced their own pregnancy, are currently pregnant, or are just keen to learn more!

Teacher Training

ACCREDITATION

If you are a yoga teacher, this course qualifies as 60 hours of CPD with Yoga Alliance Professionals.

A certificate will be presented upon completion of all elements including, assignments, observations, attendance, and the teaching assessment on the final day.
